Day 20.

1 min read

In the midnight hour I glanced at the clock. It had arrived, our first holiday without Tyler is upon us. I have dreaded this day. I would like to stay in bed and sleep until after Christmas. I would like to but I will not. Grief is a sneaky companion, it lays low at moments and then hits you hard the next. It comes in intense waves.

We draw close to the only One who can provide comfort. It’s a peace that surpasses all understanding. It searches for us in the darkness and allows for small amounts of comfort. A tiny respite. Enough to get you through the next moment. Enough to get you through all of the moments.

I want to hug him and one day I KNOW I will

I want to talk to him and one day I KNOW I will

I want to hear about his day and one day I KNOW I will

You see I KNOW this because not only is Tyler my son, he is my brother in Christ!

I ache for that day but I will endure patiently

Happy Thanksgiving to our family and friends. May you have peace and comfort in your homes and focus on how important our relationships are. Let’s love each other as Christ loves us.

This verse was shared with me and I could not be more thankful for how the body of Christ comes alongside us in our grief.

“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.”

Psalm 68:19 ESV

He bears our burdens! He weeps with us! He LOVES us!

Even during the hardest moments, it's crucial to maintain the faith that God is good. His presence offers comfort and strength as we navigate challenges. Have faith that every struggle serves a purpose and know that nothing is wasted.
